On LaborDay weekend in 2009, TGC had a visit from two of my girlscouts (Julia and Kaylee), and Alex, (Alex and his mom Susan gave Casey O'Connor her white fluffy dog, Duffy!).  Below are some pics of a wonderful relaxed day. Alex helped clean stalls, and the girls helped groom and bathe horses, and everyone rode - Prophet, Falcon and sweet Hershey did the honors that day

The boys get saddled...

Julia starts with the gorgeous Falcon

and later switched to sweet Hershey!

And the opposite for Kaylee...

here she is on Falcon..

Julia's got it backwards, despite mom's help!

Julia gives Falcon a hug, while Lisa beams...

Here's Alex and Prophet, all business

but when no one was looking,Prophet suggested...

 and Alex tried it....

and then they debriefed .... boys....

It's not just that the girls look relaxed and full of joy - look at Falcon and Hershey standing quietly and calm.  You've gotta love those two!

A wonderful end to the summer.  I can't wait for these kids to come back, and I think I speak for the boys, Falcon, Hershey and Prophet, as well.  Thank you Julia, Kaylee, Alex, for being so kind to the boys, and moms Susan and Lisa, for your help with leadlining at the beginning. And thank you, Sierra, for coming on a weekend to volunteer and helping with the horses as well!

Sierra not only came on a weekend, but the day before she rode Hershey for the first time so we could be sure he was suitable, and up to the task, when the girls visited.

You can see how much brisker Hershey's walk is under an experienced rider.  But doesn't he look calm and happy?

And then Sierra demonstrated for the kids how she works with Ronan.  Her work with Ronan is lunging and ground driving to each him how to respond to reins, preparatory to riding him and teaching him long over-due skills to be a riding horse.

All in all, a good day....
